As I was cleaning up the office over the weekend I went through the stack of cards that Husbie and I received on our wedding day from our loved ones, and I came across a handwritten poem on a wisp of paper from my Grandmother that I completely forgot about! It is quite charming and has since been framed and displayed in our office as a reminder of both my Grandmother and our wedding day. I thought I’d share it here:
Where there is love the heart is light
Where there is love the day is bright
Where there is love there is a song
Love changes darkness into light
And makes the heart take wingless flight
Oh blessed are they who walk in love
They also walk with God above –
And when you walk with God each day
And kneel together when you pray
Your marriage will be truly blessed
And God will be your daily guest –
And love that once seemed yours alone
God gently blends into His own.
The imagery of a heart taking wingless flight really appeals to me and makes me smile, for that is exactly how Husbie makes me feel. Thanks for sharing this poem with me Grandma! A final thought – people sure don’t use cursive writing enough anymore.
