What I’m listening to: Doomtree

Husbie and I don’t normally have the same taste in music. He listens to a lot of what I not-so-affectionately call death music or gangster rap. Y’know, that style of music that is based on screaming into the microphone at excessively high and aggressive volumes, or songs that use the N word and focus on money and women as objects and drugs and the “thug life”. Needless to say, when Husbie told me I needed to listen to this new group called “Doomtree” I wasn’t necessarily excited right off the bat. But I gave it a shot, and I’m glad that I did. I’m definitely a fan of lyrical rap. I enjoy Atmosphere, Brother Ali and Aesop Rock. These are artist that Husbie and I can BOTH listen to and enjoy, which is rare! Doomtree is along the same line. I’m loving them…

This one is a solo song from Dessa, the only female member of Doomtree:
