It’s no secret that I’m a Pinterest addict. My love of creating visual boards started years ago when I’d rip pages out of magazines, collect them, organize them into categories, and use them as inspiration. When Pinterest became a thing I immediately hopped on board and haven’t looked back! I love taking a moment every once in a while to see the entire pin collection, and notice themes or groupings of pins with a similar color story or style, depending on what mood I was in on any given day and what was tickling my fancy. Lately, I’m noticing lots of black and white with hits of metallics! I’m thinking this has something to do with my current House Inspiration for the new duplex, which is very much full of neutrals and pops of gold, silver, wrought iron or copper.
The photo above is exactly what I want to do in the half bath of our new duplex. Dramatic and rich dark blue walls with a collection of gilt gold frames and hits of black and white artwork in a casual arrangement. I’m in love with the color from the living room of Patricia Goijen’s home on A Beautiful Mess, called Lush Aqua from Levis, a brand sold in Belgium…I wonder if I can get it color matched here? For the artwork, I’m thinking some kind of a theme – perhaps nautical with vintage ships, compasses, mermaids and sailors, or Dutch inspired with windmills and tulips and wooden clogs, and portraits in the style of Vermeer.
I’m not usually one for nail tutorials, but this one caught my eye. I only paint my nails occasionally, and I’m intimidated by dark colors because they’re hard to apply and every mistake is glaringly obvious! This copper-leaf starburst manicure by The Beauty Department is perfectly Deco and dramatic and it caught my eye. It would be a fun activity for a Friday night at home with a glass of wine and a movie. Pair them with a few copper finger rings, and you’re good to go!
Black, white, ferns, gold. What more could one want? This makes me want to print out some large-scale xerox style prints at Staples and go hard with hand-illustrated typography in gold paint over top. Not a bad idea! I like surrounding myself with positive thoughts. “Everything is amazing” makes me think that the little things that go wrong in a day aren’t really that important.
These shimmered suede ankle booties from Anthropologie shot to the top of my wish list! I already own a pair of glittery gold Toms and a pair of glittery lace-up oxfords, but a girl can never have too much glittery footwear, am I right? It’s like a party on your feet, and a reason to look down at your tootsies and smile. I’d wear these with some bright tights, a pretty striped dress with painterly accents and a cozy knit cardigan overtop. I’d pair it with a swipe of bright coral lipstick, a bejeweled necklace, and a mint cross body bag!
Happy Monday friends! If you’re feeling like collecting a little bit of inspiration for yourself today, you can see the rest of my pins on Pinterest here.
