Chalkboard Gift Wrap DIY

Chalkboard Gift Wrap

To compliment the whimsical Christmas gift wrap, I wanted to try chalkboard gift wrap! This came together relatively quickly with black wrapping paper from Party City, and chalk markers and red and white twine from Michaels Craft Store. It’s simple, fun, and striking!

The chalk pens were a bit confusing at first as have a texture similar to a soft pastel stick, and I was afraid they would smudge. However, after drying for a few moments they stay put, and you can even have fun putting multiple layers of the chalk marker on the paper for a more opaque white. This chalkboard gift wrap looks pretty authentic!

The only other thing that’s required is your imagination! This chalkboard gift wrap is definitely a fun opportunity to try your hand at swirly banners, wreaths, holly, pine trees, mistletoe, hanging banners and more! Since I had a few red pom poms left over from the whimsical gift wrap, I hot glued a few of them onto packages here and there. I’m a sucker for the black and white with a pop of red this year! It’s a modern take on the traditional, and I love it.

This would be a fun way to get kids helping with wrapping gifts as well. There’s nothing more adorable than wrapping your gifts with a bit of personalized artwork. Put on some Christmas music or a favourite Christmas movie, and settle in for a fun crafternoon making this chalkboard gift wrap! That’s a wrap (hardy har har) for presents this year! Only a few more sleeps until we rip them all open! I’m looking forward to plenty of ‘nog, family time, and lazing around in pyjamas! What’s your favourite part of the holidays?
