You know what’s a lot of fun? Getting a bunch of ladies together for a night of crafting pretty things. It’s even better when there’s yummy snacks, bubbly, and a confetti photo booth! Welcome to Made Social Co, a modern crafting community in Edmonton created by Christine of Just Bella and Andrea of Andrea Hanki Photography. These two incredibly talented friends started hosting crafting workshops in Edmonton last year, with a new one almost every month. They’ve previously created beautiful yarn wall hangings, hand painted mugs, and Christmas decorations using reclaimed leather. What’s even more fun is that they’ve started collaborating with local businesses that I love, like Poppy Barley and Pura Botanicals!
When I saw that Made Social Co was collaborating with Pura Botanicals for a night of making bath bombs and bath oil, I knew I had to attend. I recently wrote about my new green beauty routine with Pura Botanicals, and the chance to make my own products was beyond exciting! I went with my girl Kristina from Inspired by Lynne and we had so much fun making a pretty mess. Turns out, making bath bombs is not the best activity to do while wearing plum pants. I made a mess but I was totally fine with it, because who doesn’t love being covered in delicious smelling bath bomb salts and oils?
Pura’s studio space was absolutely lovely in the evening, with soft candlelight and beautiful florals by FaBLOOMosity, treats from Love Pizza, Brianne Gabrielle Cakes, and Crave Cupcakes, and a few stations for our craft supplies!
We got to choose from 3 different essential oils for our bath bombs and bath oil to personalize our own scent. There was Sweet Orange, Lavender, and Spearmint but I sweet talked Lane from Pura Botanicals into pulling out Vanilla for my bath oil since I can’t get enough of the Sweet Face moisturizer which is the most divine combination of vanilla and orange.
We mixed up all of our wet and dry ingredients, tried not to spill everywhere (hello, dirty plum pants), and prepped our gemstone shaped molds with a sprinkle of Himalayan pink salt, calendula, and rose petals.
Once they were ready, we pressed our bath bomb mixture into the moulds and let them sit and harden. Waiting was the hardest part! In the meantime, we headed over to the confetti photobooth to have some fun! There’s honestly nothing more fun and girly than throwing a bunch of confetti into the air and grinning like fools. I think I nailed the grinning like a fool part!
I had a wonderful time with some lovely ladies making bath bombs and bath oils, and I went home with a swag bag full of pretty things. I highly recommend Made Social Co for a girls night out! Check their website or their Instagram for announcements on the next workshop. A little birdie told me they might be collaborating with FaBLOOMosity for the next one…squee!
